Coaching

For people who’ve won by the world’s scoreboard and are quietly wondering whether it was the right game. That question isn’t a crisis. It’s usually the most useful thing that’s happened to you in years.

Who this is for

Successful, and quietly asking is this it

Founders, executives, high performers. People with means, a track record, and no obvious problem to point at. From the outside it looks solved. From the inside you’ve been running a game you stopped believing in a while ago, and you haven’t said that out loud to anyone.

Some people come because work has taken more than they meant to give it. Some because they hit the number and felt nothing. Some because they can’t tell any more which parts of their life they actually chose.

You don’t need to be in trouble to do this work. Most people who do it aren’t.

The shape of it

A season. Eight conversations, two to four months.

Not an open-ended retainer that quietly becomes furniture. A season has a beginning, a middle and an end, and the end is real.

The first session maps your world. Not the version you’d present to a board. The actual one, including the parts you’d rather not say in a sentence.

Through the middle we build access to your captain — the wisest version of you, the one who is entirely available on a calm Sunday and nowhere to be found on a hard Tuesday. Most of the work is making that person reachable under pressure.

The closing session names the yeses, and the nos. The nos matter more. Almost nobody arrives short of things they could say yes to.

Sessions run sixty to seventy-five minutes, unhurried, over video or in person if you’re in Calgary. Between them, some reflection to sit with. Not homework.

Afterwards

What’s true at the end of a season

A map of your world and a clear view of where you’re going. Reliable access to your captain when it’s hard, not just when it’s easy. Clarity about what’s genuinely worth chasing and what you’re going to stop chasing.

Somewhere in there you’ll have said the awkward, truest thing out loud, probably before you felt ready.

And the heart of it: you’ll have seen the space that opens up when you stop chasing more. That’s the part people don’t expect and don’t forget.

Method

Trained properly, held lightly

I’m a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach through the Co-Active Training Institute, ICF-accredited, since 2014. The method underneath this is real and I use it.

The thinking draws on Christensen on measuring your life, Grant on generosity, Brown on vulnerability, Katie on the stories we believe, and Goff on love as something you do rather than feel.

But the method matters less than the honesty. You can be coached expertly and still leave with nothing if neither of you was willing to say the real thing.

I don’t coach from the far side of the mountain. I’m partway up it, same as you, and I only offer what I’m actually living.

What it costs

Value first, paid after

You cover a small flat amount to begin a season. At the end, you decide what it was worth and you pay that.

Not a gimmick, and not a negotiation. It’s the same freedom I’m trying to help you find. If I spent our eight conversations helping you put down a scoreboard while running a meter in the background, you’d be right not to believe me.

I’ll tell you honestly what people usually land on, so you’re not guessing. Then it’s yours to decide.

Starting

One conversation, no pitch

Half an hour to work out whether this is right, for either of us. I’m not going to sell you a season. If I don’t think I’m the person, I’ll say so and probably tell you who is.

If any of this sounds like where you are, let’s talk.

Half an hour, no pitch. If I’m not the right person I’ll usually know by the end of it, and I’ll say so.
